Correcting for Partial Volume Effects in Arterial Spin Labeling Perfusion Imaging of Alzheimer's Disease

چکیده
pure GM CBF (2 row), and net CBF image (3rd row) are shown for AD (left panel) and HC (right panel). Note the overall lower intensity of CBF in AD patients as compared to the age-matched HC. Also, note that pure GM CBF maps are independent of GM fractional volume at a given voxel thus reflecting voxel’s GM flow density. Fig2: ROI-wise average CBF values for HC, MCI, and AD are shown in bleu, yellow, and red, respectively. Bars represent ± s.d.

Regional Cerebral Blood Flow in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease Measured with Arterial Spin Labeling Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Alzheimer's disease (AD) depicts dynamic changes in regional brain function from early stages of the disease. Arterial spin labeling- (ASL-) based MRI methods have been applied for detecting regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) perfusion changes in patients with AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Nevertheless, the results obtained from ASL studies in AD and MCI are still controversial, sinc...
متن کاملClinical application of 3D arterial spin-labeled brain perfusion imaging for Alzheimer disease: comparison with brain perfusion SPECT.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Alzheimer disease is the most common neurodegenerative disorder with dementia, and a practical and economic biomarker for diagnosis of Alzheimer disease is needed. Three-dimensional arterial spin-labeling, with its high signal-to-noise ratio, enables measurement of cerebral blood flow precisely without any extrinsic tracers. We evaluated the performance of 3D arterial spi...
متن کاملPartial volume correction of brain perfusion estimates using the inherent signal data of time-resolved arterial spin labeling.
Quantitative perfusion MRI based on arterial spin labeling (ASL) is hampered by partial volume effects (PVEs), arising due to voxel signal cross-contamination between different compartments. To address this issue, several partial volume correction (PVC) methods have been presented. Most previous methods rely on segmentation of a high-resolution T1 -weighted morphological image volume that is co...
متن کاملJoint Assessment of Structural, Perfusion, and Diffusion MRI in Alzheimer's Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia
Most MRI studies of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) have assessed structural, perfusion and diffusion abnormalities separately while ignoring the relationships across imaging modalities. This paper aimed to assess brain gray (GM) and white matter (WM) abnormalities jointly to elucidate differences in abnormal MRI patterns between the diseases. Twenty AD, 20 FTD patien...
